The Nature of Being Human

At the time of this writing, I am in great awe with the blessing of “New Birth,” which brings new hope and faith for what is possible in the present and future. As the wonderment of spring brings its brilliance and surprises, I am reflecting on, “What am I personally and professionally longing to experience mindfully, emotionally, physically or spiritually for my future well-being,  for our clients and for our business?” I am curious, as I inwardly prepare for the journey to support our TC&A team and business. I have a great sense there is “New Birth” emerging that will lead us forward to influence lives and leadership towards a common good.

“The Nature of Being Human” is at the forefront of my thoughts as our family welcomed Phoenix Scott Gillman into our world of love. Experiencing his new life is one of my life’s greatest joys and gifts. His birth with Spring around the corner has me deep in thought about the seasons in life and the “nature of being human.” I admire and I am grateful for how nature gives us the blueprint for our lives and work with its seasonal gifts of:

New Birth – Spring

New Growth & Development – Summer

The Peak of Success  – Fall

Entropy or Decline – Winter

My thoughts are drawn to The Leadership Blueprint – Becoming The Architect of Your Life And Work, where we write about the Sigmoid Curve, also called the “S” curve. The “S” curve  references the cycles that all living organisms experience and go through seasonally. Yes, we are part of the “living organisms” within the “S” curve. The Sigmoid Curve, written by Charles Handy in “The Age of the Paradox,” reflects a life curve on being human, an employee, a business owner and organization. It supports the full nature of the “S” curve with the cycle of new learning, growing and developing, peaking with a high performance and experiencing a decline or a slow death when we miss the ideal point of transformation.

The life and business philosophy of the “S” curve is to keep imagining, innovating and creating for what is needed on behalf of the future. It is the commitment to keep improving upon what has been successful, what is working well and what can work better on behalf of things to come. It is the ability to celebrate the successes and yet, not be stagnant or ignorant that a decline could be around the corner. It is being aware that without change and new solutions, there will be the reality of a downturn and slow death within your life, work and business.

The Sigmoid Curve will provide a new way of thinking for your life, employees and business seasons and cycles. It will support your own process as you reflect where you, your employees or business are currently. And, it will provide a blueprint for what is needed for a sustainable reality and future.

It is a blessing and responsibility to “be human” in our life, as an employee, as a business owner and a part of a larger organization. We know first-hand, as we have experienced the seasons of the “S” curve with you, your businesses and with our own selves and business. Reflecting on the “S” curve does not need to be daunting. Our experiences can provide healthy opportunities to consistently embrace the new births, the growth and development that is needed, the successes that are realized and the preparation to transform our lives, our work and our businesses for continued sustainability before entropy and decline take hold. The Nature of Being Human is to be TRANSFORMED and embrace what is truly possible within our lives.

We are here for you and always want the best for you,

Tess & Chelsea
