Human Connection

As we continue our focus on “Human Connection,” which means being in relationship with others, these words come to mind…

Vulnerable Flow Inclusion

As I reflect on these words, they were not words at the top of dialogue for me, as I was climbing the ranks of the NYC hotel world in my 20’s. My goals related to building strategies, consistencies and creating the greatest guest experiences.

Yet innately, being intentional and appropriately vulnerable, creating a healthy energy flow within my communication style and being inclusive were all within me. Without having the clarity of these words at the forefront of my mind, I offered these experiences and energy with every guest and every teammate throughout my career. I attribute much of my success to the natural desire to connect with others and create lasting and meaningful experiences for both my guests and teammates.

I imagine, we can all think back to the earlier years in our careers where vulnerability, flow and inclusion weren’t leading our business conversations; yet, in fact, these three areas are a key part of success and the emotionally intelligent qualities we all need in business and life.

Over the years, within our leadership coaching experiences, we have heard from our clients that these three qualities –

  • being intentional and appropriately vulnerable

  • creating a healthy energy flow when communicating with others and

  • being inclusive of others

are areas that standout where they want to improve their leadership style.

Of those three options, choose where you would like to improve your own leadership style, keep it top of mind over this coming week and we’ll walk you through a simple strategy in next week’s newsletter!
